This policy explains what personal data Careerians collects through careerians.com and app.careerians.com (the “Site”), why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. We handle personal data in line with the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020. This policy works together with our Terms & Conditions.
1. Who we are
The Site is operated by Careerians, with offices at 3 Mosadak St, Dokki, Giza, and Villa 117, South Academy, Z Zone, 5th Settlement, New Cairo, Egypt (“Careerians”, “we”, “us”). For any question about your data, email Operations@Careerians.com or call +20 103 322 0240.
2. The data we collect
- Your account: when you register, we collect your name, email, password (stored encrypted, we cannot read it), professional field, career status and, if you add it, your mobile number. Your profile page may show your name, photo and professional field to other members.
- Google or LinkedIn sign-in: if you choose to sign up or log in with Google or LinkedIn, that service sends us your name, email and profile picture. We never receive your Google or LinkedIn password, and we never post anything on your behalf.
- Service and training requests: when you send a request or a booking form, we collect what you type in it, such as your name, company, job title, email, mobile number and message.
- The newsletter: if you tick the newsletter box or subscribe from one of our tools, we collect your email and, if you add them, your name and mobile number.
- Orders: when you buy a book or a product, we collect your billing and shipping details. Card or PayPal payments are handled by the payment provider; we do not see or store your card number.
- Comments and community posts: your name, email, the content you post and your IP address (used for spam detection). Comments and posts are public.
- Our free tools: the numbers you enter in our calculators (such as the payroll calculator) are calculated inside your browser. They are not sent to us and we do not store them.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser, device type and the pages you visit, collected by our hosting, security and analytics services (see sections 4 and 5).
3. Why we use your data
- To create and run your account and give you access to courses, downloads and the community.
- To reply to your requests, confirm bookings, deliver our services and process orders.
- To send you account and service emails you need, such as confirmations and replies.
- To send you the Careerians newsletter, only if you agreed to receive it. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
- To protect the Site from spam, fake accounts and attacks.
- To understand how the Site is used so we can improve it, using statistics that do not identify you.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We use your data based on your consent (for example the newsletter), to perform a service or contract you asked for, to meet a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interest in keeping the Site safe and working. We do not sell or rent your personal data.
4. Who we share it with
We share only what is needed with trusted providers that help us run the Site, and they may use it only for that purpose:
- Hostinger: hosting and content delivery of the Site.
- Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES): sending our emails, including the newsletter.
- Google: Google Sign-In (if you choose it), Google Analytics (visit statistics), reCAPTCHA (checking that a form is sent by a person) and YouTube (videos embedded in our pages).
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn sign-in, if you choose it.
- CleanTalk: checking registrations, comments and forms for spam. It receives the IP address, email and message of the form being checked.
- PayPal and any other payment provider shown at checkout: processing payments.
We may also disclose data when the law or a competent authority requires it. Some of these providers store data outside Egypt; we use only providers that apply recognised security and data protection standards.
5. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses cookies, which are small files saved in your browser:
- Necessary cookies: keep you logged in, remember your cart and protect forms from spam. The Site does not work properly without them.
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics counts visits and actions such as sending a form or downloading a file, so we know which pages help our visitors. We do not send your name, email or the numbers you enter in our tools to Google Analytics.
- Comment cookies: if you choose, your name and email are remembered for your next comment, for one year.
You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop login and checkout from working.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data: for as long as your account is open. After you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email on a “do not send” list, so we never email you by mistake.
- Service and training requests: for up to 3 years after our last contact, unless you become a client and a contract requires longer.
- Orders and invoices: for the period required by Egyptian tax and accounting laws.
- Security and technical logs: for a short period, usually not more than 90 days.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- know what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct data that is wrong or out of date (you can edit most of it from your profile page);
- ask us to delete your data or your account;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter;
- object to or ask us to limit a specific use of your data;
- be informed if a security breach affects your data.
To use any of these rights, email Operations@Careerians.com from the email linked to your data. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Center in Egypt.
8. How we protect your data
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site, encrypted passwords, two-factor login for our administrators, spam and attack protection, and limited access for our team. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our security regularly.
9. Children
The Site is intended for students, graduates, professionals and companies. People under 18 may use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data without that consent, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other sites
The Site links to other sites, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make an important change, we will show a notice on the Site or email our members.
